Overview

To harvest talent and improve their knowledge and skill, we admit students through All India Entrance Examination in Agriculture and Allied Sciences(AIEEA) conducted by ICAR and Jharkhand Combined Competitive Entrance examination conducted by JCECEB for UG, PG and Doctoral Programme. Students are selected on the basis of their merit and keeping in view the policies of Government of India and Jharkhand. Our emphasis is on knowledge based Course Curriculum, develop entrepreneurs, value based discussions, personality development, practical exposure, communication , exposure visits and study tour, NSS activities etc.

The students are trained in such a way that they are not only employable in agriculture but allied sectors as well, which includes  Banks, Marketing Companies, Pharmaceuticals, Agri- Business Management, Research based institutions, Teaching, Extension and Communication activities, NGOs etc. As per the past records, students placement is approximately 100%  in Government as well as Corporate Sectors and various other leading  private and multi – national companies of India and abroad.

Overview

The Faculty of Forestry established in the year 1981 under Birsa Agricultural University, Kanke, Ranchi with flowing mandates.

  • Develop academically qualified human resources through U.G., P.G. Ph.D. and other academic Programmes.
  • Conduct fundamental and need-based, area-specific research on forestry and allied Sciences.
  • Develop and promote the application of modern Forestry technology for improving the situation of the region and soci-economic status of tribes an other weaker section of the society through various extension programmes.
  • Organize need- based training progrmmme for officials, extension functionaries of the state Forest Departments, other organization and farmers.
  • Develop collaborative linkages with Government Undertaking, National and International Organizations for sharing and improving university resources.

I am happy to inform you that the Graduate and Post Graduate pass out from this collage are working all over the country in different capacities. They are placed in Forest Corporation, Soil Conservation Department Forest Department in Bihar, Jharkhand and UP. They are also working in different Banks, Universities, and reputed NGO’s in different parts of the country. The Forest Department is also deputed two batches of Rangers for the training in this Faculty.  The students deputed from Foreign Countries like Kenya, Ethiopia, Bhutan and Afghanistan in this Faculty for under graduates & postgraduates course.

Our students have undergone rigorous training and have acquired practical exposure in various field of Forestry, Environmental science, Economics, Watershed management, Agroforestry Forest Products particularly medicinal plants & Livelihood management etc. They have also been exposed to the basic realities and problems faced by farmers through the field components.

In addition they have been given an opportunity to interact with Rural People, Forest Villages, wood based industries etc under Rural Work Experience Program in the final year to enhance their skills & knowledge.
