In the 20th century, due to the progress of science and technology, food productivity soared high. Along with this advancement, however, came many negative aspects like pollution and destruction of the environment. As a result, these damaging features of food production have greatly contributed to global warming. Now we are challenged with revising the relationship between man and nature, and we have to seek a new way of life. I believe that this process will lead us to the reformation of a sustainable society. The food problem is one of many great challenges for humankind. The study of agriculture faces the dual challenges of aiming toward the sustainable production of food and maintaining a healthy environment. With regards to the 21st century being deemed the century of biology, the study of agriculture is developing at a remarkable rate
There has never been a more immediate and pressing need for agriculture and natural resource professionals than now. The current generation of professionals entering the workplace must find ways to double food production without increasing the amount of land and water devoted to agriculture – truly one of the world’s grand challenges. The students who enroll in the College of Agriculture want more than just jobs; they want careers that matter and provide opportunities to make a difference in the world. I can’t think of nobler professions than those dedicated to feeding the current generation and preserving our earth for future generations. Our graduate programs provide a pathway to academia, industry and agency careers for those whose goal it is to lead change in agriculture and environmental issues. Making a world of difference has never been more important. Faculties of this college will be glad to work with the students to chart a path to a meaningful, well-paying career. Feed the World. Protect the planet. That’s the motto we live by.
Establishment of agricultural college in Garhwa district was initiated in the year 2009 by the then Vice Chancellor Dr. N N Singh. Renovation work of Agriculture College Garhwa is going on and is expected to start functioning full fledged in its own campus very soon. I was bestowed upon the responsibility of Associate Dean, Agriculture College Garhwa by the University not by choice. As a head of the institution, it will be my prime and foremost responsibility to provide academic environment to the student to fulfill their goal.
