Sri Ramesh Bais

Hon’ble Governor-cum-Chancellor of Universities of Jharkhand

Sri Ramesh Bais took oath as the 10th Governor of Jharkhand on 14^th July, 2021. Chief Justice of Hon’ble Jharkhand High Court Dr Ravi Ranjan administered the oath to Hon’ble Governor at the Raj Bhavan in Ranchi. Prior to Jharkhand he was Hon’ble Governor of Tripura since 2019.

Born on 2nd August, 1947, Sri Bais was elected to Lok Sabha seven times from Raipur Parliamentary Constituency and served as Union Minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government. Earlier, he was also elected as Member, Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly. He also served as Chairman, Madhya Pradesh Seeds and Farm Development Corporation and President, Chhattisgarh Archery Olympic Association.

He has visited several countries on different official assignments. He has special interest in woodcraft, painting, interior decoration, gardening and reading.
